Recognition for Deeside apprentices

Posted by | 8th July 2015 | Apprenticeship News, Uncategorized

Two top Deeside joinery apprentices, Paul Taylor and Darren Reid, were honoured recently at a formal event for their work.

Paul Taylor, who is nearing the completion of his joinery apprenticeship, and Darren Reid, who is studying HNC Construction, were invited to attend a special award ceremony hosted by the Wrights & Coopers Incorporation – one of Aberdeen’s seven incorporated trades – at Trinity Hall. Both attend North East Scotland College on a day-release basis and spend the rest of their time training with their employer.

Banchory man Darren, who works for Deeside Timberframe, was named runner up in the Gordon Archibald Award. To compete, students on the HNC Construction course had to submit a design project which demonstrated their ability to apply what they had learnt throughout the year.

Paul, who is from Alford and works for Allan Grant Grampian Ltd, was presented with a bronze award for a half door he produced to fulfil the requirements of his Carpentry & Joinery Advanced Craft course.
