Short Description
We have an exciting opportunity within our Distribution business for a placement of a Sales Support Executive apprentice.

This area of the business plans, develops, markets and then sells savings, investment and retirement products through a range of distribution channels e.g. directly over the phone or via sales partners. There is a high focus on customer service and building and maintaining relationships with current and potential clients.

Full Description
As a Sales Support Executive apprentice you will play a key role in supporting your dedicated sales team. You will learn how different sales channels operate as well as developing a high level of customer service through practical application. You will also learn the importance of building effective relationships with your sales clients.

The role will be based in our office in Craigforth and the successful candidate will form part of a sales support team, performing day to day proactive sales and operations tasks supporting the financial adviser distribution channel across the UK and Ireland. In this position you will be a key part of the team and help to maximise sales. You will act as front-line support, resolving relationship issues and chasing up all outstanding queries and requirements. You will understand how an adviser operates and promote the proposition which is best suited to them. You will develop and maintain strong relationships providing specialist education to the business areas that you support. You will be pro-active and spot opportunities to develop yourself and the business.

The role will introduce you to an adviser environment and will comprise the following duties:

  • Dealing with enquiries from financial advisers by telephone and email.
  • Chasing up outstanding queries and requirements.
  • Quote chasing.
  • Generate sales leads.
  • Proactive prospecting.
  • Appointment making.
  • Supporting sales led campaigns.
  • Building & maintaining relationships.
  • Influencing the sale.
  • Ensure your Regional sales unit are on track to reach targets.

Future Prospects

This is a fixed term contract for 15 months upon which the business may decide to retain, subject to the apprentice performance, headcount and available funding. If recruited into a permanent role, the individual will follow the career progression applicable to that specific role/department.

Training Provided
Your apprenticeship shall be delivered by a blend of virtual online lectures alongside internal training and on-the-job learning, this will lead to obtaining your Business Administration Level 3 qualification.

  • A passion to work with other people and ability to build relationships Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally The ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft IT packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Have the ability to work confidently under pressure.
  • Good customer focus.
  • Able to use initiative and learn to prioritise own workload.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Willingness to contribute and desire to build a professional career.

Personal Qualities

The role would ideally be suited to an individual with some prior admin experience who is self-confident and has the ambition to progress their longer term career in sales.

They will also possess the following qualities:

  • Enthusiastic and confident attitude.
  • Not fazed by challenges and changes.
  • Willingness to learn/ take ownership of own development.

Qualities Required

As a minimum, candidate will have 5 National 5 (previously known as Standard Grades) with good grades in Maths and English.

Other Information
This apprenticeship role is suitable for someone who is looking to begin a career in a sales environment but has little or no experience of the discipline, is a recent school/college/sixth form leaver. This could be a great stepping stone that leads to further sales or financial services career.
