Prudential Global Data Services (PGDS) in partnership with QA Apprenticeships, is pleased to announce the launch of its 2015 apprenticeship scheme. This year we have six vacancies for Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure apprentices across two of our major offices in London and Reading.

PGDS is a direct subsidiary of Prudential plc and is responsible for providing all IT infrastructure services across the Prudential Group of Companies various business unit operations in the UK and Europe. Alongside overseeing the day to day operation of all hardware and software services associated with the Group’s IT infrastructure, we also provide IT support for these services.

Prudential are currently looking for ambitious and passionate individuals who want to build a career within business, Customer Services, Sales Support and IT.

This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain 6 weeks of work experience at Prudential as part of the QA Traineeship Programme. Our 14 week Traineeship Programme is an Education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for to gain an apprenticeship or employment.

You will gain work preparation training, English and Maths for those who need it and a highly structured work experience at Prudential.

You will experience what it is like to work at a well-known Financial Services organisation with the opportunities to learn from experienced business professionals in the business departments listed below:

England & Scotland

Customer Services

As a Customer Service Trainees you will learn about how different functions of customer service operate on a daily basis such as Annuities Servicing and Bereavements. This will be through supporting a variety of teams who deal with customer calls and general queries through to dealing with systems support through toproviding back office administration and service support.

HR and Business Administration

HR and Business Administration will give you the opportunity to experience working with the HR team, where you get involved in a range of L&D activities, including L&D administration, communications, project and team support and Learning and Development co-ordination.

IT Development

This department will give you the opportunity to experience working in an IT Organisation such an IT Development and Support and Testing. You will get involved in a range of IT related activities, including IT administration, communications and analysis activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain great work experience within a professional company where you can learn the different skills with the potential of gaining an Apprenticeship after.

Retail business

Here, you will learn how different sales channels operate as well as developing a high level of customer service through practical application. You will also learn the importance of building effective relationship whilst helping the team who supports partners and advisors.

Main Responsibilities

Start with 4 weeks Training at our QA Learning Centre in Reading receiving coaching in Employability and interview skills, Maths and English Functional Skills (If needed) and also IT training.

This will then follow with 6 weeks work experience at Prudential.

Main Responsibilities

Business Admin Support

• Spending time in different business departments such as HR, Customer Services, Sales Support, Marketing with dedicated team members learning about learn the business, team role and how their individual roles contribute to the business.

• Working closely with team members, helping with basic office admin tasks using Microsoft Word and Excel and Powerpoint

• Using your organisation skills to help with logistics and support such as room bookings and organising events, sending out invites and helping with business correspondence.

• Setting up meetings using Microsoft Outlook

• Assisting with the preparation of communications, emails and memos.

• Updating records and filing.

• Any other tasks depending on your interests and skills.

IT

• Spending time with members of the IT Development, Support and Testing team to learn about the various aspects of IT development, support and testing and how they work together.

• Helping with basic office tasks using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

• Helping to book rooms and organise invites for meetings.

• Setting up meetings using Microsoft Outlook

• Assisting with the preparation of communications, emails and memos.

• Updating project records and minute taking.

• Any other tasks depending on your interests and skills.

Then you will return to our QA Learning Centre in Reading for a further 4 weeks to complete training. To complete training in IT, Digital Marketing, Employability skills and Functional skills (If needed).

Qualities/ Requirements

• Keen to learn and develop

• Able to work as part of a team

• Some basic IT skills such as use of Word, Powerpoint, basic Excel

• An interest in development and testing

• Positive attitude and work ethic

• Good timekeeping

• Must be able to work in Reading office

• An interest in Prudential

• Be able to listen and follow instruction in a professional manor

• Currently not in a job with little or no work experience.

• Qualified below a level 3 (A-Level)

Qualification Requirements

Someone with 5 standards (Level 1 – 3) OR 5 National Level 5 grades, both qualifications including Maths and English would be ideal

Other Important Information

Potential of gaining an Apprenticeship or full time work after.

Travel and Lunch will be paid for while working at Prudential and there will be an additional incentive prize for those students that get 100% attendance throughout the programme.

Daily working hours: This traineeships opportunity is unwaged, however a travel bursary will be provided when working at Prudential. Monday- Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm (35 hours a week)
