We are currently looking for highly motivated, self-starting individuals to join our advanced depot apprenticeship programme which will commence in the autumn. This apprenticeship programme will develop you to become a competent multi-skilled engineer with one of the UKs Gas transportation companies.

The Apprenticeship

The apprenticeship is externally accredited and will take three years to complete. The programme will provide training specifically tailored to meet the needs of this operational role. On successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be offered a full time position within our company.

Our apprentice programme is a blend of on-the-job experience and classroom based training giving you the real-life skills and qualifications that are vital for taking your career to the next level. When you are finished our three year programme, you’ll have all the skills you need to become a competent engineer in a wide range of gas operational activities. In short, our programme has been designed as the perfect foundation for a great future in our company.

After an initial residential induction week during which you will learn about the company and safe working practices, you will undertake training to obtain Network Construction Operations qualifications. Your operational role will predominantly involve working on the highway to repair gas escapes on our network of mains and services. Later in your apprenticeship you will train to obtain qualifications leading to Gas Safe Registration, enabling you to attend reports of gas escapes and to undertake work inside customers’ premises.

Over the course of the apprenticeship programme you will be required to attend a number of training centres which may be a distance away from your home. When you are required to stay away from home, we will arrange travel and accommodation.

Qualifications and experience

We are inviting enthusiastic individuals who are committed to learning new skills and knowledge with the appropriate qualifications and personal qualities to apply for this exciting opportunity.

– You must have maths and English at a minimum of a C grade (GCSE/Standard Grade/National 5 or equivalent)
– Plus one science subject – Biology, Chemistry, Physics
– Plus one other additional GCSE/Standard Grade/National 5 or equivalent
– Most importantly, you will need to be a team player, reliable, adaptable, conscientious, and able to work to instructions.

In exchange, you will receive a starting salary of £13,000. On satisfactory completion of the full three year programme your salary will be circa £26,000. In addition, we also offer a fantastic benefits package.

For the job role and to participate fully in the development programme, we would prefer that you are able to drive. If you cannot drive already, you will be expected to pass your test at the earliest opportunity.
